   12th Annual Amateur Tournament !
Starts Wednesday, July 17th and runs through Labor Day weekend

 

The first preliminary round is 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 17th.
 
Entrants perform in ONE  prelimary round.
 
All entrants received by email at danccc@aol.com
will be divided into one of as many as 6 preliminary rounds
between July 17th and August 21st.
The Preliminary rounds will be held on these dates:
WED July 17th,  THU July 25th, WED July 31st,  WED August 7th,
WED August 14th and  WED August 21st. 
Semi-finals are scheduled for
Thursday, August 29th and Friday, August 30th.
The Finals are set for Saturday, August 31st.
All Shows are scheduled to begin at 8 p.m.
Doors open each of those nights at 7 p.m.
 
The top three scores from each preliminary round will advance to one
of two semi-final rounds.
The top 4 scores from each of those semi-final rounds will
make the Finals.
 
Entry fee is $10.  You can pay the night you arrive or in advance.
All entry fees will be paid back to the top three in the finals.
The top 3 in the finals will also get to perform a guest set on a mutually-agreed-upon
Friday night between September 6th and the end of the year!
 
Judges will score each round of the tournament based on categories
of audience response, stage presence, originality and overall comedy
writing abilities
. In the preliminary rounds, audience response will make up
50% of the score.  Audience response will be 25% in the semifinals and finals.
 
Each preliminary round performance should be between 4 and 6 minutes.
In the semi-finals, contestants will be asked to perform 5-7 minutes.
In the finals, contestants will need to perform between 6 and 8 minutes.

Once I've compiled a list of entries, I will let performers know in which preliminary
round they will be performing.  If there are any nights between July 17th and August 21st
that you cannot perform, let me know right away!  We will continue taking entries even after the
tournament starts, but please get your entries in ASAP to insure a spot.
We will have a maximum of 60 entries this year with a maximum of 10 each preliminary round night!
